Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about SignedSorted — legal agreements, e-signatures, and how it all works.

Is SignedSorted legally binding in Australia?+

Agreements created through SignedSorted are designed to meet the requirements of a valid contract under Australian law, and e-signatures are recognised under the Electronic Transactions Act 1999 (Cth) and equivalent state legislation. Whether a specific agreement is enforceable depends on its terms and circumstances — SignedSorted is not a law firm and doesn't provide legal advice, so for complex or high-value matters we recommend an independent lawyer.

What types of agreements can I create?+

SignedSorted supports room rental and housemate agreements, private loan agreements, residential lease agreements, service agreements for freelancers and tradies, NDAs, letters of demand, eviction notices and small claims action plans. You can also upload your own PDF and send it for e-signing.

Does the other party need a SignedSorted account?+

No. The other party does not need to create an account. You invite them via email and they receive a secure link to review and e-sign — no signup required.

How does the e-signature work? Is it valid?+

Both parties sign by drawing or typing their signature in the browser. This is fully valid under the Electronic Transactions Act 1999 (Cth). Each signature is timestamped and tied to the signatory's email address.

Is SignedSorted a substitute for a lawyer?+

SignedSorted is designed for straightforward everyday agreements. It is not a substitute for legal advice on complex matters. For those situations we recommend consulting a qualified Australian solicitor.

What happens after both parties sign?+

A sealed PDF copy is automatically emailed to both parties and stored in your dashboard. The PDF includes both signatures, timestamps, and party details.

How long are my documents stored?+

Documents are stored for 12 months on Pay Per Doc. On the Plus plan ($29.99/month or $99/year) your full document history is stored while you remain subscribed.

Is my information secure?+

Yes. SignedSorted uses industry-standard encryption for all data in transit and at rest. We do not sell or share your personal information or document contents with third parties.

Which states and territories are supported?+

SignedSorted is available across all Australian states and territories — VIC, NSW, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT, and NT.

What if the other party never signs?+

The agreement stays in a pending state in your dashboard. Contact the other party directly to follow up. An unsigned agreement is not legally binding — both parties must sign for the contract to take effect.

Can I edit the document after it has been sent?+

Check the document carefully before you send it. If the other party wants a change, talk it through and create an updated version for them to sign. Once both parties have signed, the document is sealed and cannot be altered.

What is the difference between Pay Per Doc and the Plus plan?+

Pay Per Doc is $3.99 per agreement — perfect for one-off deals. The Plus plan, at $29.99/month or $99/year, gives you unlimited agreements and your full document history while you remain subscribed.

Can I see a draft before I pay?+

Yes. You can describe your deal and preview an AI draft before paying. Free previews have a daily limit. You pay when you are ready to save and send the document for signing.

Can I use my own document?+

Yes. You can upload your own PDF, place the signature and date fields, and send it for e-signing, including documents only you need to sign.

How do I cancel the Plus plan?+

Open your dashboard and choose Manage subscription, or email hello@signedsorted.com.au. Plus renews automatically until you cancel. Change-of-mind refunds are not offered once a document has been generated or a billing period has started, but this does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Do you have free tools or templates?+

Yes. We have a free bill split calculator and loan repayment calculator, plus free sample agreements in our guides, including housemate, private loan, freelance, NDA and letter of demand samples.

Is SignedSorted a law firm?+

No. SignedSorted is a document service and does not give legal advice. Our guides and samples are general information.
